Simon Greer is the President and CEO of the Jewish Funds for Justice.

Background

Early professional life

*Before joining the Jewish Funds for Justice, Simon worked as a labor and community organizer and Jewish social change leader for 15 years. He worked with Solidarity in Poland and unions in South Carolina, and founded Jews United for Justice, an urban social change group in Washington, DC. *In 2003, Simon became the Executive Director of New York City Jobs with Justice, an organization that works to improve working people's standard of living, fights for job security, and protects workers' rights to organize. [http://www.jwj.org/]

*In this role he has overseen the merger of the Jewish Fund for Justice with The Shefa Fund, and the merger of JFSJ with Spark: Partnership for Service. Under his leadership, JFSJ has initiated two leadership development programs, expanded its work in Congregation-based Community Organizing, created the blog and online action center jspot.org, and raised or directed $3 million to help low-income communities redevelop areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. JFSJ has also continued its grantmaking to support organizing in low-income communities while operating a $7.5 million loan fund for community economic development. [http://www.JewishJustice.org]
