Labour's
Estelle Morris (now Baroness Morris of Yardley) had held the seat since winning it with a majority of just 162 votes in 1992 but stood down at the 2005 election. John Hemming finally won a Parliamentary seat at the forth time of asking, having also stood in Yardley in 1992, 1997 and 2001.Election box candidate with party link
