The Church of the Assumption, a nineteenth century
Roman Catholic church in Slieverue village, is the only church in theparish . There were earlier churches and these were situated as follows:
*Drumdowney - The church was built in honour ofSaint Patrick after he had visited the area.
*Kilmurray - This church was dedicated to theBlessed Virgin and was at Kilmurray crossroads.
*Kilaspy - This church wasdedicated to thepresiding bishop .
*Rathpatrick - This church is one of the most recent ones as the remains can still be seen.hop
Slieverue has only one shop in the village, known as "Bettys" which has been run by the Griffen family for many years. It is known for selling almost everything you need.Fact|date=September 2008 A new shop has now opened on the main N25 road on the site of the old Slieverue creamery.
