Within the
University of Birmingham Medical School he holds the posts of Sub-Dean of Medicine, Director of the Centre for the History of medicine, Professor of the History and Archaeology of Medicine and Director of the Institute of Medical Law. In addition, he is the Public Orator of theUniversity of Birmingham . Outside of Birmingham, he is a visiting lecturer and Module Director for the Special Studies Programme in Ancient Medicine for theUniversity of Oxford Medical School .A colleague of Professor Arnott at the
