The Port Gibson Battlefield was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. An apparently related site, the Port Gibson Battle Site, was designated a National Historic Landmark and automatically listed on the National Register in 2005. It is not apparent what is the difference in area or significance covered by that NRHP site vs. this one.
