"Hybanthus concolor" is a member of the Violaceae family, and it is more commonly known as "green violet". It is found in moist, shady sites in ravines and on rocky slopes, also on floodplains, in rich, calcareous soils. Most of the Canadian populations are located along the Niagara Escarpment, a prime habitat for green violet. Green violet grows to a height of 30 cm to 1 m, and it blooms from May to June in Ontario and from April to June in Connecticut.
