- Catherine Zelazowska
Catherine Zelazowska (1460-1540) was a Polish woman who converted to
Judaism . She was the widow of an alderman ofKrakow , and at the time when, influenced by theBible , Polish Christendom was divided into different sects, she followed the example of the daughter of Nicholas Radzi and embraced Judaism. In 1540Piotr Gamrat ,Bishop ofKrakow , condemned her to be burned. Because of her willingness to convert to Judaism, she was heralded as amartyr .References
