Karl Theophil Fries was born in
Kiedrich ,Germany on birth date|1875|3|13. After his family moved toFrankfurt he went to school there, but choose to study chemistry at the nearUniversity of Marburg in 1894.After one year inDarmstadt University of Technology to improve his skills inelectrochemistry he received his Ph.D withTheodor Zincke back at theUniversity of Marburg in 1899. He became professor in Marburg until the retirement of Theodor Zincke and the start ofWorld War I in 1914. He took part as soldier in the whole war from 1914 till 1918. He became professor at theTechnical University at Brunswick in 1918 and staid ther until a conflict with some nazi habilitants in 1938. After his forced retirement in 1938 he went back to Marburg where he was able to teach chemistry at the university. Karl Fries diedSeptember 6 ,1962 inMarburg and was burried near his academic advisorTheodor Zincke .References
