Tony Biggs

Tony Biggs

Tony Biggs (aka 'Ramblin’ Man') hosted a show in the 1980s on 2JJ, an Australian youth radio station. His ability to choose music which underlined and reinforced current events made him popular among many.

In 1989, shortly after the appointment of the new General Manager of the station, Barry Chapman it was revealed that Tony was to be sacked, along with other senior staff, as part of a plan to refurbish the station's image and provide content suitable for younger people than their current audience.

Tony Biggs was prevented from appearing on air on the day this was announced.

In the 1990s Tony moved to Melbourne appearing on radio 3RRR and now presents On The Blower [http://www.rrr.org.au/onair.php?pid=36] a talkback discussion show.

He has been the drummer in bands such as The Black Assassins, Hell To Pay and The Love Addicts, and can also be found DJing in clubs around Melbourne, although performances have been restricted since health setbacks in 2004.

Tony began his broadcasting career in the very early 1980s in Brisbane on triple zzz fm - the alternative youth radio that was infamous for playing controversial music and political comments at a time when the Bjelke Peterson government had a strangle hold on civil liberties.

He eventually moved to Sydney and Triple J which was an offshoot of the ABC.
