He is self-taught inCanaanite inscriptions andEgyptian hieroglyphics .Leonard claims to have found a copy of a controversial document (which may never existed and what Leonard saw could only have been a hieroglyphic copy of a hieratic copy of a possible hieratic original) known as the
Tulli Papyrus and to have translated it using a grammar byE. A. Wallis Budge . [Budge, E. A. Wallis (1966), "Egyptian Language," Dover Publications Inc., New York.] and other sources. [http://www.atlantisquest.com/Firecircle.html "Fire Circles" by R. Cedric Leonard]For a number of years Leonard was Anthropology Consultant for
UFO research institutions, including the International UFO Bureau (IUFOB) and the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON ; then known as the Midwest UFO Network), and has lectured on the subject of “Ancient Astronauts ” in schools and universities, as well as in varioussymposium s conducted by the above UFO organizations [Skeptic Report http://www.skepticreport.com/ufo/ufo-m.htm] . While generally credible, Leonard’s career inAnthropology has been marred by his insistent interest in the fields of ancient UFOs and Atlantis [Posse Incitatus http://www.posseincitatus.typepad.com/posse_incitatus/science/index.html] . Fortunately, schooling in the field ofelectronics enabled him to have a long career with the AT&T corporation, which supported him and his family financially. His interest in the alleged civilization of
Atlantis resulted inexpedition s toWestern Europe ,North Africa ,Mesoamerica , as well asCaribbean andAtlantic island groups, which gave him access to Europeanmuseums andlibraries , and allowed inspection of historic andprehistoric archeological sites [Collins, Andrew, "Gateway to Atlantis,” Carroll & GrafPublishers, 2002.] . Now retired, Leonard was once a member of the International Platform Association (a prestigious speakers association). He also held memberships in the Oklahoma Anthropological Society and the Oklahoma Science & Arts Foundation.
