Albert D. Schroeder

Albert D. Schroeder

Albert D. Schroeder (1911-March 8, 2006) was a member of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Schroeder was born in Saginaw, Michigan, U.S.A., in 1911. As a child, he received religious instruction from his grandmother. He studied Latin, German, and electrical engineering at the University of Michigan. However, he discontinued his secular studies to take up the full-time ministry. In 1932 he became a member of the Jehovah's witness headquarters staff in Brooklyn, New York.

In 1937, at the age of 26, Schroeder was appointed to supervise the work of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Britain. There he began a lifelong association with John Barr, with whom he would later serve on the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses.

In August 1942 Schroeder was deported from Britain.

His first assignment upon returning to New York involved developing the curriculum for the new missionary school, the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead. For some years, he served there as an instructor, helping to train missionaries.

In 1956, Schroeder married Charlotte Bowin, and in 1958 their son, Judah Ben, was born. In 1974, Albert began to serve on the Governing Body.
