Seamus Dunne

Seamus Dunne (born 13 April 1930) is an Irish former professional footballer.

Born in Wicklow, he was a defender who played 15 times for the Republic of Ireland national football team. Dunne joined Luton Town from Shelbourne F.C. in 1951 and made his debut for the Hatters on 26 December in a 6-1 victory over West Ham United at Kenilworth Road. During the next ten years he was a regular at right back for Luton as they won promotion to Division One in 1955 and reached the 1959 FA Cup final.

Dunne made his debut for the Republic of Ireland national football team against France in 1953 and also played against Austria during the same year. The 1960-61 season was Dunne’s last campaign as a Luton Town player and he was transferred to Yiewsley and he then moved onto Dunstable Town.

Having managed Dunstable Town for a short time, Dunne returned to his native Ireland where he still resides.
