Project Pedro

Project Pedro

Project Pedro was a secretly funded program under the United States Information Agency during the 1950's. The program was a clandestine public relations campaign to spread pro-U.S. propaganda throughout Latin America. The program received cooperation from Coca-Cola advertising. Newsreels and films were created to negatively affect Mexicans' opinions on Latin American revolutionaries, like Fidel Castro. However, the public relations disasters of American imperialism in Guatemala and Cuba overshadowed this program and it was largely unsuccessful.
