The adjacent settlement became the administrative centre of Bamberg's Carinthian territories and in 1331 receivedtown privileges by Bishop Werntho Schenk von Reicheneck. During theProtestant Reformation Wolfsberg was a main area ofLutheranism which nevertheless was suppressed by theCounter Reformation . In 1759Maria Theresa of Austria acquired all Bamberg lands in Carinthia. InWorld War II Wolfsberg was the site of theStalag XVIII-A Prisoner-of-war camp .ights
