Netherlands , in the province of Utrecht. IJsselstein received city rights in1331 .The 375 metres high television mast
Gerbrandy Tower is located in IJsselstein, although it is commonly known as "Lopik". The city has an old town, surrounded by a small canal. The riverHollandse IJssel flows through the city. There was a castle in IJsselstein from1300 to1888 , but only the tower has survived. The N.H.Nicolaas-church was founded in1310 . Inside the church there are two mausoleums; one of the family ofGijsbrecht van Amstel (1350 ) and another one ofAleida van Culemborg (1475 ). There is another, neo-gothic R.K. St. Nicolaas-church (1887 ).Pope Paul VI gave the church the title of 'Basilica Minor ' in1972 .References
