The Engineering and Technology Board (ETB) was founded on 14 February 2001. It is an independent organisation that promotes the essential role of engineers, engineering and technology in society. The ETB partners business and industry, Government and the wider science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) community. The ETB is committed to working with partners to ensure that young people are aware of the rewards and opportunities that a career in engineering brings. It does this via various channels inlcuding scenta.co.uk, a website containing inspirational information about the broadest range of engineering and technology related careers. scenta contains over 800 Role Models from all disciplines and experience levels.
The ETB also produces ‘enginuity’ and enginuity.org.uk in partnership with SEMTA, to provide a comprehensive pack of careers-related materials which is distributed annually to every secondary school. With the British Association for the Advancement of Science (BA) and most of the major engineering organisations, the ETB is raising the profile of engineering events in National Science and Engineering Week. The ETB is funded by a combination of registration fees from around 250,000 registered Chartered Engineers (CEng), Incorporated Engineers (IEng) and Engineering Technicians (EngTech), and commercial products and services. The ETB is a registered charity in England.
