Kanden Tunnel Trolleybus

Kanden Tunnel Trolleybus

The nihongo|Kanden Tunnel Trolleybus|関電トンネルトロリーバス|Kanden Tonneru Tororībasu is a Japanese trolleybus line between Ōgisawa Station, Ōmachi and Kurobe Dam Station, Tateyama. The line does not have any official name. The line goes entirely under a tunnel. This is one of the only two trolleybus lines existing in Japan. The line is a part of Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, together with another trolleybus line, Tateyama Tunnel Trolleybus. The tunnel was originally made for the construction of the hydroelectric plant of Kurobe Dam. As such, the trolleybus line is operated by Kansai Electric Power Company (Kanden or KEPCO). Since trolleybus is legally considered as a sort of railway in Japan, KEPCO can be called as the railway operator with the largest capital stock in the country.
