1140 Crimea is a Main-belt Asteroid orbiting the Sun. Approximately 28 kilometers in diameter, it makes a revolution around the Sun once every 5 years. It completes one rotation once every 10 hours. It was discovered by Grigory Nikolaevich Neujmin on December 30, 1929 at the Simeiz Observatory. It is named for the southern peninsula of Ukraine, Crimea (at the time part of the Russian SFSR), extending into the Black Sea where Simeis is located. Its provisional designation was 1929 YC.
