Şerban Stănciulescu (b. 1947,
Bucharest ,Romania – d.1987,New York ,United States ) was a RomanianAnti-Communist dissident ,audio engineer anddisc jockey .He was a graduate of the Electronics Department of the
Polytechnic University of Bucharest . Stănciulescu worked as a sound engineer for the onlymovie studio in Romania at the time, the Buftea Movie Studios. Together withcomposer Ştefan Niculescu , he organized modern music lectures in Bucharest in the 1970s.By writing an open letter to
Radio Free Europe , he demanded to be allowed to leave Romania. After much bullying by the fearedSecuritate , the Romanian secret police, he was finally allowed to leave Romania in 1977.He went first to the
Federal Republic of Germany , where he worked as a disc jokey forRadio Free Europe .Later on, he settled down in
New York City , where he a collaborated as a sound engineer on certain modernjazz recordings byJim Sauter ,Donald Miller , and Don Dietrich at the AIMI recording studio.External links
