Sports in Erie, Pennsylvania has a long history. There are numerous sports teams in Erie, Pennsylvania all of which are minor league, they include the Erie Seawolves, the Erie Otters, and the Erie Freeze. There are also numerous college sports teams along with high school teams. District 10 high school sports are played in the area, often with close results due to the even distribution of athletic talent. Throughout history, Erie has had various semi-pro and professional sports teams. The city hosts the nationally recognized McDonald's Classic. Erie hosts the Erie RiverRats, which is a member of the American Indoor Football Association, and the Erie Illusion, which is a member of the National Women's Football Association. Both teams play at the Louis J. Tullio Arena
Hockey
The Erie Otters play hockey in the Ontario Hockey League. The Otters also play at the Louis J. Tullio Arena
Baseball
The Erie SeaWolves play double A baseball in the Eastern League as an affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. The SeaWolves play at Jerry Uht Park.
Basketball
The Erie Bayhawks will begin play in the NBA Development League for the 2008-09 season. The team will play at the Louis J. Tullio Arena.
