The Garbage Dump
Coimbatore's garbage is being dumped on the outskirts of Podanur on the way to Chettipalayam causing serious air and water pollution to the area. During the warm months plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the dump during some evenings. The smoke sometimes reaches as far as the Podanur market. People wonder why Coimbatore cannot find waste land elsewhere to dump its garbage. A decent residential town with good climate is chosen instead.
