Suzanne "Suzy" Chaffee (born
November 29 1946 , Rutland, Vermont) is an Olympic skier and actress. She is perhaps more commonly known by her nickname, "Suzy Chapstick", from a time in the 1970s and early-1980s when she was a spokesperson for "ChapStick ". There was so much speculation about what relationship, if any, existed between Chaffee andSenator Ted Kennedy ,then married toJoan Kennedy , that Chaffee issued a denial wheneverpossible. She was the first woman to serve on the board of theUnited States Olympic Committee , and has been a member of thePresident's Council on Physical Fitness under four U.S. presidents. She was a co-founder of theNative Voices Foundation , an organization that seeks to develop Olympians from among Native American tribes.She was featured in a long-running television ad campaign for ChapStick in the 1970s. She has appeared in films such as "Ski Lift To Death" and "Fire and Ice".
