O. Howard "Bud" Frazier is a distinguished heart surgeon. He is the Director of the Cardiovascular Surgical Research program and the Chief of Cardiopulmonary Transplantation at the Texas Heart Institute (THI). He is also the Chief of Transplant Services at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and the Co-Director of the Cullen Cardiovascular Research Laboratories at THI.

In February 2006, the Houston Chronicle announced that Frazier and his team of transplant surgeons had completed their 1,000th heart transplant, perhaps more than any other surgeon in the world.

Frazier obtained his B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1963 and his M.D. degree from Baylor College of Medicine at Houston in 1967.

He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. To date, he has authored or co-authored more than 490 scientific articles. He has worked closely with Dr. Denton A. Cooley, the founder and president of the Texas Heart Institute.
