Carmen Consuelo Cerezo (
née Vargas) (b. 1940) was appointed by PresidentJimmy Carter to theUnited States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico in the 1980, becoming the first female federal judge in Puerto Rico. In the 1990's she served for several years as Puerto Rico's first female Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court. Prior to her federal appointment, she served as a state court judge.
