Petros Efthimiou

Petros Efthimiou ( _gr. Πέτρος Ευθυμίου) (born March 27 1950 in Larisa) is a former Greek Minister for National Education and Religious Affairs. He is a member of the Greek Parliament for the Panhellenic Socialist Movement for the Athina B constituency.

He speaks French and English.

Eftimiou was elected MP with PASOK in the general elections of 2004 and 2007. In 1999 he was elected MEP, a position that he resigned from in 2000 in order to be Minister for National Education.

Efthimiou was attacked by a violent young person on 22 August 2008 outside his office in Athens downtown, and was hit on the head by a long iron-made metallic object (siderolostos). [http://www.naftemporiki.gr/news/static/08/08/22/1554022.htm]
