Trondheim Energi has 82,000 power customers, 93,000 grid customers and 2,400 district heating customers.
History
Trondheim Energi was founded in 1901 as
Trondhjems Elektricitetsværk og Sporvei to build apower plant in Øvre Leirfoss and operate theTrondheim Tramway . In1921 thecompany was split into Trondheim Energiverk (TEV) andTrondheim Sporvei , the latter with responisbility for the tramway. In1952 TEV andStockholm Elverk made an agreement where they would cooperate in building the Nea power plant. The agreement included exchange of power withSweden . In1982 thedistrict heating system was decided built by thecity council , with operation starting in1986 . In1997 the company was reorganized as a limited company and in1999 as acorporation . In 2002 the city council sold the company to Statkraft. In2007 the group changed its name to Trondheim Energi.
