The song was the third single of Don Henley's third solo, studio album The End of the Innocence. The single reached #21 on the Billboard Hot 100, #3 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks, #2 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks, and #9 on the Canadian Singles Chart, during the winter of 1989-90.
The song was later covered by India.Arie on her 2006 album . India Arie's version of the song is used in the second episode of "Brothers & Sisters" titled "An Act Of Will" and also in the trailer for the "".
