The 1970 Masters Tournament was contested from
April 9 toApril 13 atAugusta National Golf Club . It was the 34thMasters Tournament . 83 players entered the tournament and 48 of them made the cut at six-over-par (150).Billy Casper defeatedGene Littler 69 to 74 in an 18-hole playoff to win his third major championship. It was the last 18-hole playoff at the Masters. Casper scored a final round of 71 (-1) for a nine-under-par total for the Tournament.Jack Nicklaus finished in 8th place. This would be the last Masters tournament that 1938 championHenry Picard registered for. Picard withdrew without finishing the 1st round. Three-time Masters championSam Snead finished in a tie for 23rd place at the age of 68. This was the first time that future two-time champion Tom Watson played in the Masters. He entered as an amateur and missed the cut by three strokes.Harold Henning won the Par 3 contest with a score of 21.Final leaderboard
