WCPK is a Gospel formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Chesapeake, Virginia, serving the Southside of Hampton Roads in Virginia. WCPK is owned and operated by Christian Broadcasting of Chesapeake.

History

WCPK signed on in 1967 with an Easy Listening format. When WCPK signed off at sunset with this message: "When WCPK's beautiful music ends, even the sun goes down."

By the 80s, WCPK switched calls to WJQI and began simulcasting then "Joy 95" (now WPTE). By the late 80's, WJQI would be on it's own on AM 1600 with Adult Contemporary music.

WJQI would become WFOG in 1996 simulcasting the then Soft Rock station on 92.9. In 1997, WFOG became WCPK once again with it's current gospel format and "Praise 1600" branding.
