Archedemus ( _el. Άρχέδημος) of Tarsus, [Strabo, "Geography", xiv; Diogenes Laërtius, "Lives of Philosophers", vii.] a
Stoic philosopher who flourished c. 140 BC. Two of his works: "On the Voice" ( _el. Περὶ Φωνῆς) and "On Elements" ( _el. Περὶ Στοιχείων), are mentioned byDiogenes Laërtius . [Diogenes Laërtius, "Lives of Philosophers", vii.]He is probably the same person as the Archedemus, whom
Plutarch calls an Athenian, and who, he states, went intoParthia and founded a school of Stoic philosophers atBabylon . [Plutarch, "de Exilio", 14.]Archedemus is also mentioned by
