Ing Jaroslav Mareš (born28 December 1937 inBrno , thenCzechoslovakia , nowCzech republic ) is a Czechbiologist ,traveller andwriter .He graduated from The University of Economics in
Prague , getting a degree of Ing (he studied international business). He worked forČSA inIran and later inCanada . He has visited 85 countries and organised several expeditions for research ofcryptids , such asKongamato (for this he was offered the membership of theInternational Society for Cryptozoology which he accepted),Nandi Bear ,Megalania prisca ,Bigfoot ,Yeti ,Nessie ,Ogopogo ,Champ ,Megalodon ,Lusca , Ambazombi and others. In 1978 he organised an expedition to thetepui which probably inspiredSir Arthur Conan Doyle for writingThe Lost World (a book based on stories told to Doyle byColonel Percy Fawcett ).He also studies
dinosaur s (he visited most of the famousfossil sites, such asNemegt inMongolia ,Tendaguru inTanzania ,Red Deer inAlberta , and other localities inUtah ,Colorado ,Montana andPatagonia ) and corresponds with the world-leadingpalaeontologists . Another field of his interest isshamanism .In 1976 he discovered and later scientifically described the world's strongest
carnivorous beetle , "Manticora imperator", of theTiger beetle group. He became a specialist in this group of beetles and later described three morespecies .He has published seventeen
