Field of Bullets

The Field of Bullets Theory designates a type of extinction where the selection is completely random. Species are simply out in a field and "bullets" are hitting the species at random and by accident and killing the organism off. This has no relation to the organisms adaptability, or fitness of specific animals. It is without order and purpose. Under this theory all species are subjugated to the same probability of extinction no matter where they originate in their taxonomy.

Examples

#The extinction of the dinosaurs by meteorite.
#Imagine an environment with 10 organisms per species, 10 species per genera, 10 genera per family, 10 families per order, 10 orders per class and 1 phylum. In this scenario we will lose no classes and about 5% of the species will go extinct.
#The extirpation of Pompeii citizens by volcano.
