The Trade Agreements Act of 1979 (TAA), USStatute|96|39|93|144|1979|07|26, codified at usctc|19|13 (usc|19|2501|2581), is an Act of Congress that governs trade agreements negotiated between the U.S. and other countries under the Trade Act of 1974.
The stated purposes of the TAA are:
# to approve and implement the trade agreements negotiated under the Trade Act of 1974;
# to foster the growth and maintenance of an open world trading system;
# to expand opportunities for the commerce of the United States in international trade; and
