- Robbie Branscum
Robbie Tilley Branscum (b. 1937 — d.
May 24 ,1997 ) was an American writer ofchildren's books andyoung adult fiction . Big Flat ,Arkansas . Her father died when she was only 4 years old and she grew up with her poor grandparents on another farm. Branscum dropped out from school after the seventh-grade. She continued to read books and write poetry and songs. She provided for her livelihood through work at dirt farms.
The newsletter of her church, the
Southern Baptist , printed an article she had written. Subsequently she decided to become an author. She wrote 20 books about her youth and rural life, first among which "Me and Jim Luke" (1971). Her books were published throughout the 1970s and the 1980s. She worked withliterary agent Barthold Fles .
