History
The Qatar International School was founded by MJ Griffin (the Principal) as a small Pre-School unit in
1977 in Montaza. It has operated continuously under the same management since then, developing into the largest independent British School inQatar .The Primary Section opened in
1985 , followed by the Secondary Section in1994 . There are now around1200 students on the role, ranging from2 to17 years of age. After initially operating out of converted villas, the school moved onto its first purpose-built
campus in1996 in the Mamoura area ofDoha . This provided the specialist facilities required by the rapidly-growing Secondary Section.A further move in
2001 allowed a further significant expansion in space and facilities, taking them to the existing campus in Dafna (West Bay). This school was one of the first three British school in Qatar.
