Gameface was an influential Orange County band that helped establish post-hardcore, a sub-genre of hardcore punk that came about after the eventual end of the 1980s "youth crew" hardcore era. Having formed in 1991, Gameface is often credited for spearheading their respective genre, alongside contemporaries Farside. The quartet is hailed for their massive lifespan and catalog, relative to most other indie bands. Gameface would exist for a total of twelve years, after disbanding in 2003. At that point they had produced fourteen releases under the name.

Gameface's discography spans five different record labels, including Nemesis Records, Network Sound, Dr. Strange Records, Doghouse Records, and legendary hardcore label Revelation Records. Each record is understood to illustrate a different aspect of the band's songwriting abilities under different (and sometimes adverse) circumstances. For example, the quartet's "Three To Get Ready" was written after former drummer Bob Binckley passed away in 1995. Thus, the album is noticeably more emotional and extroverted than other releases.

Gameface is often credited for having forged a sound that would later be considered as "emo". Despite the band Rites of Spring being called such earlier, Gameface is often said to have created the more tangible and aggressive archetype that would eventually become standard.

Gameface's lead-singer Jeff Caudill is now in pursue of a solo career and is also involved in an electronica project called 'Floormodel'.

Todd D. Trout (Guitar), Steve Sanderson (Drums), and Guy Julian (Bass) have formed a new band called the NEW LIARS CLUB.
