History

The hospital was founded in 1982 by Sangho Lee as Sangho Lee Neurosurgery Clinic in Busan, Korea. In 1984, it was renamed to Wooridul Neurosurgery Hospital. In 1992, Wooridul Neurosurgery Clinic and Wooridul Spine Health Institute were open in Yeoksam, Seoul which moved to the current location in Chungdam building in 1999.

The doctors publish research in medical journals.Wooridul Spine Hospital ('WSH') places “Number One Hospital for Spinal Disease” by constantly developing new treatment methods, publishing and presenting them world wide. A world class academic achievement of WSH for the field of Spine as signified by publishing 17 peer reviewed articles in Spine journals in 2006 alone. WSH has been sharing our long-time accumulated knowledge with world. Awards

The WSH was designated as a "Most Excellent Institution" in 2006 with the highest comparable score of 98.7. WSH received an "A Credit" for all categories evaluated by the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW). The ministry surveyed a total 118 medical institutions in the nation. The categories evaluated included : management of infectious disease ; patient convenience ; adherence to patient rights ; safety management ; hospital ward organization and administration ; and the system for patient diagnosis.

About the medical institute survey : The medical institute survey from the Ministry of Health and Welfare has been performed since 2004. A committee dispatched by the Ministry is directly responsible for the evaluation and report. The premise of the survey and evaluation was to promote the "right to know" for the medical consumer and to promote the level of medical services by officially and publicly announcing the results of their assessment and report.
