Gold Coast Parklands

Gold Coast Parklands

The Gold Coast Parklands is a non-profit orgainisation which is administered by Queensland State Government appointed Trustees. The complex is a large multi-use facility situated only 5 km from the Southport CBD and covers an area of 38 hectares (94 acres). The Parklands hold many of Queensland's most popular events including the Big Day Out.

After a five year planning and development period, Gold Coast Parklands was officially opened on the 8th December 1988 and the first race meeting was held on the 13th December that year. Since 1993, Parklands has, and is currently carrying out various developments to ensure that we have the best possible building and showgrounds facilities.

Parklands is the Gold Coast's most versatile events complex. Set on 116 acres of country surroundings, Gold Coast Parklands is 10 minutes and less than 8km north of Surfers Paradise. The complex is only 45 minutes south of Brisbane (take exit 66 for the Smith Street Motorway).
