Woolwich railway station

Woolwich railway station is a proposed new station of the Crossrail rail project in London, UK. The station, which would serve the Woolwich area, was not initially proposed as part of the route but was added after a House of Commons Select Committee suggested its inclusion and after additional funding was found.

It is not to be confused with the current network rail (mainline) stations in Woolwich known as Woolwich Arsenal located around 200m to the south or Woolwich Dockyard.

A station at Woolwich was initially omitted from the Crossrail plans as the cost would have made the whole project more expensive and less attractive. However, after talks between Greenwich council and Berkeley Homes on how to find the £162 million required, plans for a Crossrail station at Woolwich were resubmitted to the Secretary of State and are included in the Crossrail Act.

The station will be located south of the river near the Royal Arsenal development (north of Woolwich Arsenal). The base structure will be built by Berkeley Homes.
