refnum=93001612"L. A. DUNTON" is one of two remaining
fishing schooner s build at theA.D. Story Shipyard in Essex,Massachusetts ."Dunton" was modeled after a ship designed by
Thomas J. McManus and was among the last large, purely sail-powered fishing vessels built. She was later equipped with an engine and had been adapted for use primarily as a motor vessel before being acquired by theMystic Seaport Museum in1963 . An initial restoration in 1963-65 returned the rig andstern to their original configuration, while subsequent restorations between1974 and1985 returned her to a more fully authentic appearance.cite web|url=PDFlink| [http://pdfhost.focus.nps.gov/docs/NHLS/Text/93001612.pdf "L.
