United States Olympic Trials (swimming)

The United States Olympic Trials in swimming are held before every Summer Olympics to select the participators for the United States swimming team. The first event was held in 1920 in Alameda, California to select swimmers for the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium. Some times the men's and women's trials has not been held together.

*1936 - Providence, Rhode Island (men's), Long Island, New York (women's)
*1948 - Detroit, Michigan
*1952 - New York, New York (men's), Indianapolis, Indiana (women's)
*1956 - Detroit, Michigan
*1960 - Detroit, Michigan
*1964 - Astoria, New York
*1968 - Long Beach, California (men's), Los Angeles, California (women's)
*1972 - Portage Park, Chicago, Illinois
*1976 - Long Beach, California
*1980 - Irvine, California
*1984 - Indianapolis, Indiana
*1988 - Austin, Texas
*1992 - Indianapolis, Indiana (together with the US Spring Nationals)
*1996 - Indianapolis, Indiana
*2000 - Indianapolis, Indiana
*2004 - Long Beach, California
*2008 - Omaha, Nebraska (event winners will be officially considered national champions)
