Andrew Adkins is the singer/guitarist for rock and roll group,
Mellow Down Easy .Recently he was voted one of the top songwriters in
Nashville by a Nashville Scene ("local Music City arts/entertainment publication") reader's poll. He along with his band are a driving force in the regional indie music.Bio
Andrew Ray Adkins was born in
Defiance, Ohio onMarch 25 1977 . He was born an only child. He grew up in a small town outside of Defiance (Oakwood) where he attended elementary school. After 6th grade Adkins attended Paulding Middle School and Paulding High School inPaulding, Ohio . After graduation in 1995, Andrew moved to Nashville, TN in 1996.Andrew claims Elvis Presley changed his life. "One of my first words was 'Elvis'", says Adkins. "I came out of the womb obsessed with Elvis Presley. I used to sit and listen, dance and sing along with his music instead of playing outdoors with all the other children. My Aunt had given me a pile of Elvis 45's (records) and I used to pass my time by playing them over and over and etching all of that music into my brain."
It was not until Adkins heard "Destroyer" from KISS that he wanted to be a guitarist in a rock band.
Recent
He continues to tour and record with fellow Mellow Down Easy members,
Rodney Rusell and childhood friend,Daryl Dasher .Adkins currently resides in
North Nashville, Tennessee , where he lives with his girlfriend and small dog. He is currently working a follow-up to 2005's "Brothers Of The Left Hand Path" with Mellow Down Easy.Andrew plans to record and release a collection of solo material at the beginning of 2009.
