Notable_instruments =Bela Kiss is an American
post-hardcore band formed in 2004 By Nick Prainito, inLong Island, New York . Named after the Hungarianserial killer Béla Kiss , the band quickly gained popularity and a reputation for an intense live show. The band was even showcased on Hungarian television during a special about the serial killer of the same name. Bela Kiss' reputation for an intense live show came to a head on October 22nd 2004, where a sold out Bela Kiss show was shut down after one song, but Bela Kiss continued to play until the venue shut off all power to the stage. This resulted in a small riot, forcing the venue, then named 'Sports Plus', to stop hosting hardcore shows. Bela Kiss recorded and released a 5-song demo in the summer of 2004, and shortly after released an 8-song demo with the first 5 songs plus 3 new tracks. The demos have been seen for sale on the popular auction websiteeBay , going for triple the price of what the band originally sold them for.In late 2004 they were signed by Massachusetts-based label
Audio Deprived Records where they released their first official album, "For Those Who Don't Believe ", on October 4th 2005. Before the album was recorded, drummer Ross Monroe left the band due to personal reasons. He was replaced on drums by Alex Lehneis. According to sources close toAudio Deprived Records , the album "For Those Who Don't Believe" is officially out of print as of 01/01/08.The album was well received by the hardcore community behind the popularity of the song "T-1000". Shortly after the album released in stores bassist James Morgan left to help start the band DIVIDER. He was replaced for a few months by Scott of the California-based band Broken Front. Shortly after Alex Lehneis then left the band due to personal issues, and Mike Furey began to play drums. Things continued to unravel when new bass player Scott unexpectedly left the band. So in December 2005 original bassist James Morgan was asked to return to the band to fill in until a permanent bassist was found. He returned and after a few small tours, James left the band for the final time in April 2006 due to touring conflicts with his other band. Bela found their way back to the studio to record a 3 song EP. Bela toured off that EP for a few months, then Mike Furey and Kyle Cadolino left the band.
They then underwent many lineup changes, including Constantine (Dean) leaving the band after being their guitar player, then returning for a short while to fill in on bass after going though 2 other bass players (Mike Abrusci and Steve Sanchez). Daniel Salvaggio took the reins as lead guitar player. Later on, Robert Corsetti hopped on drums and the band regained new focus and is now tighter than ever. Currently signed to
Hotfoot Records , they released their second album to hit stores called "The Horde" on June 12 2007. It was announced in August that guitarist Tim Arnold would leave the band. Constantine later parted ways with the band and now plays guitar and synth for the bandThe Huntress . Matt McNally (formerly of DIVIDER) took over on bass.In December 2007 it was announced that singer Nick Pranito was sick which forced the band to cancel all upcoming shows including their winter 2008 tour. January 2008 announced the departure of guitarist Dan Salvaggio, and shortly after Matt Mcnally announced he would be playing bass for the band
Crime In Stereo .Nick who is the only member left in Bela Kiss has announced that despite all this the band will continue on. In June 2008 It was announced on Bela Kiss' Myspace page that the band was in pre production for a new album with no world on who would be filling in the empty spots in the band.Bela Kiss recently toured the
United States withThe Banner , Across Five Aprils,Grace Gale ,Endwell ,Glory of This ,Recon ,Palehorse ,Phantom Communique and more. They also performed atJekyll & Hyde Fest in Massachusetts and Saints and Sinners Festival inNew Jersey onNovember 3rd 2007 .Over the years Bela Kiss has shared the stage and has done small tour runs with well known acts such as
