Canada at the Olympics

Canada (CAN) has sent athletes to every Winter Olympic Games and almost every Summer Olympic Games, the exceptions the 1896 Summer Olympics and 1980 Summer Olympics, which it boycotted.The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is the National Olympic Committee for Canada.

Future and recent events

The city of Vancouver, British Columbia will host the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The Italian city of Turin hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics, where Canada's medal count was the third largest, smaller than those of Germany's and the United States. Snowboard Cross was on the Olympic program for the first time. In this event, Dominique Maltais won a Bronze medal in the women's competition. Cindy Klassen would set a Canadian record by winning five medals (one gold, two silver and two bronze) in speed skating.

Hosting the Games

Canada has hosted the Games twice, and has been selected to host the 2010 Games."Canada also won 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal at the 1906 Summer Olympics, which the IOC no longer recognizes as an official Olympic games, so those medals are not counted in this table."
