Canada competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany.

Many felt that Canada's poor performance at the Olympics, which included not winning a gold medal may have the reason that Canada didn't win a gold medal during the next Summer Olympics, the Games of the XXI Olympiad, in 1976, which took place within their borders, in Montreal.
