Voyager Refresh
On June 17th, 2008, Verizon announced that it would be implementing
Visual Voicemail on several yet to be released phones, including one known simply by the name "Voyager Refresh". [ [http://gizmodo.com/tag/voyager-refresh/ Gizmodo.com] ] It is now widely speculated that the Refresh is in fact a firmware update, purportedly a major one, though this has not been confirmed by a Verizon representative. On
July 17 th,2008 , a post onMobileroar.com purported to have information from "reliable" anonymous source, detailing the enhancements that the Refresh would bring. Among the features the post contended the Refresh firmware update would bring were drag-and-drop icons like those on theLG Dare , as well as a drawing pad application, another feature taken from the Dare. After working with the new update however, the drawing pad application is not present. [ [http://mobileroar.com/2008/07/17/voyager-refresh-weve-got-details Mobileroar.com] ]Several days later, users on internet message boards reported references on Verizon Wireless's website to a phone called the VX10000 Silver, leading people to believe that a silver version of the phone would also be made available which will actually be titanium. It is currently available.
On August 9th, Verizon Wireless released the "Voyager Refresh" V09 update to all Verizon stores. In many ways, the software update is as significant to Voyager, as the 2.0 upgrade to iPhone. The entire core operating system has been upgraded to match the newer LG Dare. Rhapsody music support has been added. Bugs have been fixed. And, the interface is now more responsive, with a consolidated Media Center, which more recent phones have used to replace the older Get it Now interface. Most significant however, is the long-rumored addition of Visual Voicemail to the LG Voyager. However, despite past reports, the update is not free. While Verizon was correct that the download of Visual Voicemail is free, to activate it you must pay a fee of $2.99 per month for using the Visual Voicemail service on the Verizon network.
The Titanium Voyager is currently available online now for $149.99 (after $50.00 mail-in rebate) which includes the new firmware similar to the LG Dare. New features include: new "white" display theme, drag & drop icons in the shortcut screen, and many more.
