- Egino (Bishop of Dalby)
Egino (died 1072) was the first and only
bishop of Dalby inScania , from 1060 to 1066. He was ordained by archbishop Adalbert ofHamburg-Bremen . The bishopric was separated fromRoskilde in 1060, when the church inDenmark was reorganized in nineepiscopal see s, but practically united with the see ofLund in 1066, after the death of bishopHenry of Lund , who had been suffragan to theArchbishop of Canterbury . Thereby all ofTerra Scania was subordinated to Hamburg-Bremen.Egino initiated the erection of a stone church in Dalby, the first in
Scandinavia , and is known to have visitedRome in 1071.Egino is also known as a successful missionary inBornholm andBlekinge .References
