The song was written by Wright's manager and publicist at the time Roosevelt Jamison who came from a gospel music background.
The song is a soulful love ballad and has been covered many times since, most notably by Otis Redding in 1965 and appears on his album "The Great Otis Redding Sings Soul Ballads". It was also recorded in 1965 by The Rolling Stones on their album "Out of Our Heads", and by Humble Pie on their 1973 album "Eat It".
