- Vintage Noiseless
The Vintage Noiseless series is a line of electric guitar pickups made by Fender. Introduced in
1998 , they feature a stacked-coil design eliminating the 50/60-cycle hum normally associated with traditional single-coil pickups. The range includes models for electric guitars and basses. The Vintage Noiseless pickups were an original equipment material on the American Deluxe series instruments made between1998 and2003 . They are now widely used on many Mexican-made and Custom Shop guitars such as the popular Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck signature models since2001 .amarium Cobalt Noiseless
The Samarium Cobalt Noiseless series (SCN) is another line of replacement noise-free stacked electric guitar and bass pickups, designed by Bill Lawrence. Introduced in
2004 , they are similar to the Vintage Noiseless pickups, but employ miniaturized samarium cobalt alloy magnets instead of Alnico 5, giving a much more responsive and articulate tone. The SCN pickups are a standard equipment feature on the American Deluxe and other higher-end Fender models since2004 .Hot Noiseless/SCN
Hot Noiseless and Hot SCN models for Stratocaster guitars also exist and feature a hotter output than a standard Noiseless Strat pickup. Used in the middle and neck positions, they provide a proper balance with any bridge-position humbucking pickup (such as the Fender DH-1 or the
DiMarzio PAF Pro). In the bridge position, they complement the regular Noiseless pickups in the neck and middle positions. The Hot Noiseless pickups use a special dual-coil design with ceramic magnets; likewise, the Hot SCN employ samarium cobalt alloy magnets for a more articulate and responsive sound.
The Hot Noiseless series were a long-time favorite of famous Fender endorsees such as
Jeff Beck andRichie Sambora .
