Barkley Sound, also known historically as Barclay Sound, is south of
Ucluelet and north ofBamfield on the west coast of Vancouver Island and forms the entrance to theAlberni Inlet . TheBroken Islands Group lies in the sound.In 1787, Captain
Charles William Barkley of the "Imperial Eagle", explored Barkley Sound that bears his name and named the sound after himself.
